Dr. Sonya Thomas currently serves as the Director of Career Pathways at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT), a position she has held with distinction for over 18 years. As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Thomas is deeply committed to fostering academic and professional opportunities for students, particularly those who face significant barriers to higher education.
Dr. Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Southern Arkansas University, followed by a Master of Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Arkansas Tech University. She completed her academic journey with a Ph.D. in Philosophy, specializing in Higher Education Administration and Educational Leadership, from Liberty University.
With a passion for advancing student success and educational equity, Dr. Thomas has consistently demonstrated a steadfast dedication to empowering students and enhancing career readiness across southwest Arkansas. Her leadership and experience in higher education have contributed significantly to the development of UAHT’s Career Pathways program, which has positively impacted the lives of countless students.
